Our Lady of Guadalupe

"I am the ever-virgin Mary, Mother of the true God who gives life and maintains its existence. He creates all things. He is in all places. He is the God of Heaven and Earth. I desire a church in this place where your people may experience my compassion.
All those who sincerely ask my help in their work and in their sorrows will know my Mother's Heart in this place. Here I will see their tears; I will console them and they will be at peace. Call me and call my image Santa Maria de Guadalupe."

Our Lady of Guadalupe Confirmation Program

Welcome to the Confirmation preparation program at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church. If you are new to our church, we welcome you to our faith community.

This information on this page concerns the classes that are taught in English on Sundays. All parent meetings and printed materials that are sent home are presented in a bilingual format. Para obtener esta información en español, por favor haga clic AQUÍ.

In accordance with a policy change by our bishop, the recommended age for Confirmation has been changed from High School age down to Seventh grade. All students who are seventh grade to high school ages are strongly encouraged to prepare for Confirmation this year.

The Sacrament of Confirmation completes the Sacraments of Initiation into full membership in the Catholic Church and seals the presence of the Living Spirit of God already present within the baptized. The purpose of the Confirmation preparation process is to awaken candidates to the presence of the Holy Spirit within them and to ask them to consider how they will live their lives as confirmed Catholics. The godparents and parents chose a life of Christ for each candidate when they were infants or small children. Now each young person is given the opportunity to make that choice for themselves.

There are six parts to the sacrament preparation process for Confirmation:

  1. Parent/Student orientation meeting on Sunday, September 6 at 10:15 am, in the church. At least one parent must attend this meeting along with the student.
  2. Twelve Sunday sessions beginning on September 13, 2015. The time is 10:15 am to 12:15 pm. Students are expected to attend all 12 sessions except in the case of illness or serious family emergency.
  3. Weekly mass attendance at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church. Mass attendance is verified at the English and Spanish weekend liturgies. Students who do not attend mass on a regular basis will not be eligible to celebrate Confirmation.
  4. Regular attendance (at least 70%) at one of the OLG youth groups.
  5. Five hours of service at the parish, or participation in a parish ministry.
  6. The Confirmation retreat on Sunday, April 10th. 9:00 to 2:00 pm.

Please fill out both sides of the registration form and attach a copy of the candidate’s baptismal certificate even if baptized at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church. The registration fee is $55 per candidate with a $165 maximum per family. Please return the form to the parish office.
